Hobby Lobby
Weekly Ad Promo

In 2021, Hobby Lobby made the strategic decision to retire its long-standing 40% Off coupon. This coupon had been a key part of the brand’s identity, appearing in every email campaign and grand opening promotion, so its removal marked a significant shift in customer communication.

To ease the transition, the company began focusing on its weekly ad, which highlighted rotating in-store and online discounts. At the same time, Hobby Lobby was also expanding its social media efforts, opening an opportunity to connect with audiences in new, more dynamic ways.

My goal was to help carry that familiar, warm feeling into this new chapter. I created two short seasonal animations using a cut-paper illustration style that reflected the brand’s cozy, handmade aesthetic. These videos struck a chord, collectively reaching over 4 million views across platforms.

Following their success, the project was extended to include three additional videos, including an evergreen piece that could be used year-round. Each one continued to blend storytelling, seasonal charm, and visual consistency, supporting Hobby Lobby’s evolving message while staying true to its roots.

About Me

This is a collection of work I created over the past decade in which I’ve been a designer for Hobby Lobby in the Art Department as well as the Advertising Department. If I’m not working I’m probably rewatching Bob’s Burgers, The Bear, or Craig of the Creek.
Musings

Lately I’ve been learning about UI/UX design through the Google UI class. I recently completed the Master Gorgeous UI Design Course created by Pablo Stanley.
